Results
- The training programmes increased awareness of medicinal plants farming.
- The project also brought about an increase in the number of Growers after the training programme , with some earning as much as Rs.5,000 or 6,000 monthly.
- This project not only fostered women's economic empowerment, but also revitalization of traditional knowledge of Indian home remedies, conservation of biodiversity and reduced pressure on natural forest resources.
Development of Compact Bio-diversity Park at Garden Area of SSF
Objectives
To set up a resource centre for conservation of biodiversity in order to capitalize on the strengths of the Foundation.
Expected Results
The resource centre shall undertake the work of documentation, public education, demonstration and extension activity, especially with regard to medicinal and aromatic plants.
Improvement of Infrastructural facilities in the Botanical Garden of Singamma Sreenivasan Foundation, Bangalore
Objective
Develop the facilities like fencing, irrigation facilities and green house for propagation of germ plasm collected from various vegetation areas that are needed for conserving the rare, endangered and threatened species including medicinal plants at SSF
Results
The activities of the project such as green house, irrigation facilities, purchase of endangered species, etc. have been completed.
